There is also an indoor market, which used to be a produce market but when the outdoor fair started in 1970, it also soon shifted to antiques, phonographs, restaurants, clothes and other stuff, although I did see some stalls still selling fruits, vegetables and meat! So odd, you pass a shop selling meat and around the corner you see an antique shop. Not something you see everyday. It was good to get out of the rain for a bit.
At about 3 pm I was done with the rain and the market, so I took a cab back to the hotel. I read that while the fair was going on, Argentine tango and folklore singers and dancers, and other performers, put on outdoor shows throughout the day, but there were none today, I guess due to the rain. I am really very unfortunate in Buenos Aires.
It continued to rain throughout the day. At about 6 pm I braved the rain again as I had to buy dinner, a toothbrush and lotion. I found a farmacy where I bought a toothbrush and lotion. And then I had to decide what to eat for dinner, for some reason I was feeling hungry the entire day although I had both breakfast and lunch. I blame it on the rain. I was sick and tired of sandwiches, empanadas, pastas and pizzas (I found out that there was a large Italian immigrant community in Buenos Aires in the 1940s and 1950s living in the Caminito area, it was they who brought their infernal pastas and pizzas to Buenos Aires! I have nothing but love for pastas and pizzas, but everyday??) so I went to Macdonalds. They have a chicken burger with bacon and onion. It's called CBO - chicken, bacon, onions. It is good. I miss the Ramly burgers back home, though.
Then I went back to the hotel, ate my dinner, showered and washed my hair, and packed my bags for tomorrow. I am going to leave the big suitcase here and take my small bag with me to Uruguay. By the way, the friend of a friend with whom I was supposed to have stayed with here in Buenos Aires never contacted me again. So much for 'hosting' me in Buenos Aires. Humans! Half of me wants to send him a sarcastic email while the other half tells me it's a waste of time. We will see what happens, I am very impulsive this way, ruled by emotions rather than rationale. My raincoat and cap which I wore in the rain today are still soaking wet, and I don't know whether it will dry by tomorrow. At 11.00 pm, it was still raining. Don't cry for me Argentina, indeed.
