We travel again! Back to Warsaw just to break our journey and have a rest for the night. After all, we are weary travellers come from afar.
Well actually, if not for our faux pax about horrid Belarus, we could’ve gone to Krakow from Gdansk. Instead, we now waste a day travelling to Warsaw for no reason. Oh well. Live and learn.
We arrived back at Warsaw at about 4 p.m. and headed to our hostel. This hostel was different from our previous hostel in Warsaw as the previous hostel was not available for today. This was an attic studio, on the 4th floor, without a lift. I counted 88 stairs. No joke when you have about 15 kgs on you. I think this is my karma for not climbing to the top of my castle tower yesterday (roll eyes). And then the corridor was as dark as night and I couldn’t see any light switches so I had to use the torch light on my phone. Talk about a dark and dingy place!
Then we went down again to buy some groceries. My friend went ahead of me and when I reached the hostel my friend was all hot and flustered. She told me she encountered an old man with 3 bags and so out of the kindness of her heart she offered to carry the bags for him, only he led her to yet another secret passageway and she was so scared of being locked away in a secret dungeon for years and years that she just ended up leaving the bags there and running upstairs for her dear life. I told her she has watched one Korean drama too many. She wasn’t amused. She was really flustered and if I really think about it, I guess I would be too. But nothing happened in the end so a happy ending. Except for the 88 stairs.
We ate Maggi mee of all things and then just chilled and relaxed, with a bit of planning for the next countries that we will be visiting. This place is giving me the creeps. The corridors are damn dark and I can hear sinister noises everywhere. Luckily it’s just for a night. Tomorrow we go to Krakow.
