Today we leave Paris for Brussels, Belgium. Due to the massive walking I did yesterday, I woke up late. The bloody hotel won’t give me an extra piece of soap although we stayed for 2 nights. Nasty creeps.
We checked out of the hotel at about 10 a.m. and made our way to the bus station which was a long way away. Overall I quite enjoyed Paris although like I mentioned before, the bus and train stations stank of piss and we had to be careful of pickpockets. But surprisingly the people were quite helpful and friendly which made our stay easier. Also there was a nice diversity of people in France which personally for me always makes life more pleasant and fun.
We took the bus at 12.00 p.m. and about 4 hours later we arrived in Brussels, Belgium. Here we are staying in an Air B&B, the family is staying downstairs and we have a bedroom on the top most floor. The house is a 4 storey house, very narrow but high. The worst part is that the bathroom is all the way downstairs so we try our best to go down only when absolutely necessary because then it is a long way to come up again to our room.
Our host is a family consisting of a Sri Lankan husband, an Italian wife and a Moroccan adopted son. The husband is very nice, talkative, and altogether a pleasant man. He brought us to a nearby pub for a glass of beer. I tried their draught called Maes Pils with about 5% alcohol which was quite nice. We had another round free of charge courtesy of the bar tender who could not believe my real age (he thought I was 24 ha ha!). My friend says I should move here because then I will be forever young.
My friend cooked nasi lemak (she brought a packet of ikan bilis sambal) and we shared some with our host who I think was delighted to eat some spicy stuff after living more than 20 years in Brussels. Then we did some bookings for the rest of our trip and called it a night.
